Mathematical proof that 9.99999 recurring equals 10........

x = 9.9999999 recurring
10x = 99.9999999 recurring
10x - x = 99.999999 - 9.999999 = 90
9x = 90
x = 90 / 9 = 10
x = 10
10 = 9.999999 recurring

I found this interesting :p

D&D Character quiz.....

I Am A: True Neutral Human Cleric (3rd Level)

Ability Scores:

Strength-12

Dexterity-15

Constitution-13

Intelligence-16

Wisdom-15

Charisma-12

Alignment:
True Neutral A true neutral character does what seems to be a good idea. He doesn't feel strongly one way or the other when it comes to good vs. evil or law vs. chaos. Most true neutral characters exhibit a lack of conviction or bias rather than a commitment to neutrality. Such a character thinks of good as better than evil after all, he would rather have good neighbors and rulers than evil ones. Still, he's not personally committed to upholding good in any abstract or universal way. Some true neutral characters, on the other hand, commit themselves philosophically to neutrality. They see good, evil, law, and chaos as prejudices and dangerous extremes. They advocate the middle way of neutrality as the best, most balanced road in the long run. True neutral is the best alignment you can be because it means you act naturally, without prejudice or compulsion. However, true neutral can be a dangerous alignment because it represents apathy, indifference, and a lack of conviction.

Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

Class:
Clerics act as intermediaries between the earthly and the divine (or infernal) worlds. A good cleric helps those in need, while an evil cleric seeks to spread his patron's vision of evil across the world. All clerics can heal wounds and bring people back from the brink of death, and powerful clerics can even raise the dead. Likewise, all clerics have authority over undead creatures, and they can turn away or even destroy these creatures. Clerics are trained in the use of simple weapons, and can use all forms of armor and shields without penalty, since armor does not interfere with the casting of divine spells. In addition to his normal complement of spells, every cleric chooses to focus on two of his deity's domains. These domains grants the cleric special powers, and give him access to spells that he might otherwise never learn. A cleric's Wisdom score should be high, since this determines the maximum spell level that he can cast.

Final update from Singapore

Yesterday and today have been fun :). We went to the wedding of one of Karen's friends to a Danish guy, so the wedding was a Chinese/Danish hybrid :p. Was really good to see lots of Karen's friends, some of the them again, others for the first time. The actual wedding was one the beach at Sentosa, with the reception being back away from the beach a bit but still right near the sea. Was a biiiig buffet dinner, niceness :D. Had chicken, lamb, beef and duck. Not bad for one meal :p. Ended up going to bed at about midnight, was a fun day :).

Today got up quite leisurely, and went down for a buffet breakfast (we'd stayed overnight at the hotel). Saw a few of the other guests, although we know of at least 2 who didn't make it down in time for breakfast :p. We then went down the beach to where a couple of Karen's friends were playing in an Ultimate tournament! W00t! Beach Ultimate! Was good to see it being played, and the quality of play was really good as well :). Had a bit of a chuck around, and then had to go back to check out of the hotel. Just before we left the hotel it got incredibly windy, and then started to rain! Pity the poor ultimate players......

All that's left to do here now is to pack, have dinner, and go to the airport. My flight is at 2am, so I need to be there by midnight at the latest really. These two weeks have gone so fast, but it's been two of the best weeks I've ever had. I love this island, and that's not only because Karen's here. Karen's friends are really good fun too, and it'll be great to see them again when I'm over here next. I've enjoyed myself immensely, and it's been wonderful to spend so much time with Karen. I wish I could stay longer.

Day 13....

Yesterday was another pretty relaxed day. Went out late morning to go for lunch at Suntec City. Had biiiiiig lunch at Marche (Karen had a $30 voucher ;p ), and then walked round Suntec for a while. Went into Ceasers Gun Gallery....omg I wish I had the money. All sorts of gorgeous weaponry in there! Oddly enough, Karen would seem to prefer me buying weapons than gundam :p. Odd girl.

Went back to Jurong Point to catch Spidey2 at 4pm. Won't say much about it here, but I really enjoyed it. Doc Ock was done incredibly well :). Just interested now to see who they bring in for #3 :p. After the film we went to Karen's cell. Lots of mad people, with kids running round as well :). Was really good, I really enjoyed it :). Even when one of the guys tried to teach me something to call Karen's parents which Karen kindly translated for me as meaning mother-in-law and father-in-law :o . I think they'd kinda freak if I called them that :p. Oh yeah, I also bought pressie dad (had got stuff for mum, sis and bro in Chinatown), and bought FFVIII for myself :p

Got a wedding to go to today at Sentosa. Should be fun :).

Don't want tomorrow to be my last day here.

Wish I could stay.

Pics from Bintan and what we did yesterday

Holiday at Angsana Bintan :D )

Yesterday was another quite realxing day. Had a pretty late start, and headed out for lunch. Had a really nice bowl of beef noodle soup at Jurong Point food court for S$3!! That's a good lunch for merely £1!! Niceness indeed :D. We then headed off to wander around Chinatown for a while. Lots of old style shops when you get into the proper Chinatown area, lots of touristy shops in the first area you hit :p. Had dinner at a small restaurant in the area, had hainanese chicken rice :). Is kind of Singapore's signature dish, was really really good :D. Popped into Jurong Point again on the way home to indulge myself :p. Bought 4 new Gundam kits (hence the last pic :p ), none of which I'd ever seen in the UK :D. Happy happy! Got back home, and then spent the evening sorting out pics.

Going to see Spidey2 today. Interested to see how they've done the Doc. He was always the classic Spidey villain. Am looking forward to it :D. Karen commented the other day that we go to see rather geeky films together: Spidey2, X-men2, LOTR films.....meh, geeky is teh g00dn355 :D

Days 8-10: Bintan

Days in Bintan )

And that's pretty much what's been going on for these past few days.

Sun, Jun. 27th, 2004, 11:22 pm
The 1 week milestone

Today was a bit of a different day. Woke up, had breakfast, and went to Karen's church. Was really good, enjoyed the service a lot, even though they got all the visitors to stand up :p. Went and had MaccieD's for lunch, then had to get some more food for the bbq this evening. Got home and helped a bit with food preparation. So that, all in all, takes us up to about 5pm.

Went out, carrying lots of bags of food etc, and took a taxi down to the block of condominiums where one of Karen's aunts lives. Very nice, has a gym, swimming pools, basketball courts, all sorts of stuff! Nice venue for a bbq, all in all. Set stuff up for the bbq, and people started arriving at about 7pm or so. So I got to meet a number of Karen's aunties/uncles/cousins, and a few nephews and neices. Singaporean bbq is very different from UK style. We had rice noodles, tofu puffs, chicken sausages, pork strips, satay, peppers, asparagus, king prawns, and then there was the stuff I didn't eat. There was definitely stingray, and I think there may have been squid. So rather different from the whole UK style of burgers and sausages :p.

Off to a resort in Indonesia for a few days tomorrow, placed called Bintan. If you wanna see, here's the website for it:
http://angsana.com/bintan/index_flash.htm
Will update again probably after we get back on Wednesday.

The 6th day

Today was very relaxing in some ways, and very manic in others. Started off by going to buy food for the bbq tomorrow with some of Karen's relatives. Thinking that could be the scariest event of this whole trip :p. Had lunch at Delifrance. Came home to slouch for a few minutes, and then off out again to Raffles Junior College (Karen's old school) to meet up with a load of her mates to play netball. Hadn't played that for many many years, but was really fun :D. Saw some of the aftermath from last night in some of the players when we got there :p. The game was fun, even in the heat and humidity, played for about 1.5 hours or so. Then we went and showered at Serene's place, then off to Louis and Leslie's place for dinner. Went to eat at a back street resturaunt, really good food :). Karen pointed out a certain type of building to me on the way there. 'If the house has a red lantern or only a number outside, it's a brothel'. Interesting little bit of info, so bear that if any of you are ever in Chinatown in Singapore :p. Then just hung around at L&L's place for a while, and then came home.

The night of the fifth day

Last night we went to a club called New Asia Bar with a load of Karen's friends. Was good, although kinda scary :p, to finally meet the people she talks about. Anyhoo, this club was in an interesting location.....on the top floor of a skyscraper! Absolutely amazing view! :D The music was ok, and we got into the members area thanks to one of Karen's friends. They were buying shots by the tray-load, not cheap over here. In the space of 3 hours, 2 bottles of champagne, 4 trays of 30 shots, and 3 racks of 6 test-tubes were polished off. And that was just while we were still there!! Even I was persuaded to have a couple of drinks! For those of you that don't know, I hate the taste of alcohol, so I don't tend to drink. But last I night I ended up having 2 shots and a test-tube. Good thing was though, don't think it really affected me :p. We left pretty early by their standards, at only 1:30am. We're seeing some of them later this afternoon, could be interesting to see how they're feeling :p. Was a really good night, all in all, with a great bunch of mad people :). Definitely glad we went :D

Day number 5

Went to Singapore River today. It started off raining this morning, but then turned really bright and sunny. So ended up very warm and humid. Is odd, I think I cope with the heat better than Karen does. Is very strange. But anyway, we walked along the river a bit, saw 2 seperate statues of Sir Stamford Raffles (one of which a bird had been rather ireverrant towards :p), and ended up going into a pub for lunch. Pub was called 'The Penny Black', and was a typical english type pub :p so got to have steak-and-ale pie with proper chips and baked beans :D Yum.

Wandered around a bit more, ended up buying a new pair of shorts and a new t-shirt. Then came home cos we're going out tonight to a place called New Asia Bar, which is on the 79th floor of a hotel. Should be a good view from up there :). Going to meet a load of Karen's friends though. That might be a little scary :p

I'm so glad I'm here :)
